Slides from 360|Flex Indy

Monday, May 18th, 2009

When John and Tom called people out for being late with their slides, well, that was me. If you went to find the slides for the Degrafa presentation on your USB thumb drive they weren’t there. So, here they are.

Degrafa at 360|Flex Indy

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

It’s been nearly 5 months since we released Degrafa 3.1 Beta and we’re steadily moving towards a 1.0 release. Since 3.1 we’ve seen the number of people using Degrafa drastically increase with download numbers at over 18,000 and that doesn’t include people using the SVN. We get daily emails from people using the framework, great questions on the Degrafa Group and more people eager to contribute. It’s an exciting thing to see!

Degrafa Shapes

Great progress is being made on the framework, so we’re excited to have a presentation slot for Degrafa at 360|Flex, this time in Indianapolis. Things we hope to cover are: the current status of the framework, demoing some great apps that heavily use Degrafa, talking about future features and Degrafa 1.0, walking through code, as well as discussing some very interesting new developments that may be on the horizon. We also hope to address any questions regarding Flex Graphics/FXG and Degrafa.

So, if you’re interested in Degrafa, the session is on Monday the 18th at 1pm. See you at 360|Flex!

Degrafa Top 5 Features Slides

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

We’re a little behind in posting these slides from Flex Camp Orange County. Tom Gonzalez and Juan Sanchez presented the “top 5″ features of Degrafa. Of course, these features are debatable and really we just wanted to point out some of the features that make Degrafa stand out.

We chose this as the outline for the presentation because of the 40 minute time slot. Even still, we ran over in time and were able to take some of the lunch time to finish the presentation.

Flex Camp Orange County was a great event and are happy we had a slot to present Degrafa to the community.

Degrafa at Flex Camp Orange County

Friday, January 16th, 2009

If you’re interested in Degrafa and live in Southern California, you should probably check out Flex Camp Orange County. Tom Gonzalez and I (Juan Sanchez) will be giving a presentation on Degrafa.

A lot of new features have come along up to the latest release, Beta 3.1, and with the sessions being 40 minutes there’s no way we can fit them all in. So, aside from just mentioning here that we’re presenting, we’d also like to get some people who are thinking of attending what they’d like to hear about.

We definitely have to give an overview of the framework and walk through some introductory code, but beyond that is what we’d like to fill in. We’ve had thoughts on just covering the “top 10″ features of Degrafa, or maybe the “top 5″ use cases for Degrafa. There’s tons of examples to show along with anything we decide to talk about.

So, if you’re thinking of attending Flex Camp OC, what would you like to hear about?

Catch Degrafa at Adobe MAX Europe

Friday, November 28th, 2008

For those of you interested in learning more about Degrafa and all the new features in Beta 3, you’ll have a chance at Adobe MAX Europe. Jason Hawryluk and I (Juan Sanchez) will be giving a presentation on Tuesday during lunch in the Community Lounge. There will be a board with the exact time in the Community Lounge, so keep an eye out for it.

Jason and I are super excited to be giving this presentation. We’ve been working on Degrafa from the beginning for almost two years. It’ll be the first time we’ve met face to face, so if you’re attending MAX Europe you’ll be getting a presentation from the founders of Degrafa.

Degrafa has become super powerful, flexible and extensible for creating graphics for pretty much anything you can imagine, like mapping, graphics editing, dynamic graphics, rich UIs, artistic explorations and more. People at MAX North America got some awesome insight into Degrafa Beta 3, but it’s been a week and we’ve got even more to show. I think people will be amazed at what they can do with such minimal code.

This presentation is not to be missed and if you’ve got an example of how you’ve used Degrafa we’d love to see it. Also, be sure to grab other people at lunch and bring ‘em over. We hope to see you there.

Degrafa 360|MAX Slides

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Thanks to all who attended the Degrafa talk at the 360|MAX set up for the Unconference at Adobe MAX and the Degrafa Birds of a Feather. Tom Gonzalez and I (Juan) weren’t really sure what to expect with the turn out, but it was really great. We started with one person who was really amped to see the new stuff to a packed room by the time we finished.

There was a ton of stuff to cover with the new Beta 3 release and the new site. I was making samples right until we had to go up on stage and having a blast doing it. This new release makes things so easy, whether you’re a designer, developer, artist, etc.

Below are the slides from the talk and I’ve uploaded the majority of the samples from the talk to the Degrafa Samples page. We’re going to try to see if Jason Hawryluk and I can give the same talk at MAX Europe. With Jason there, if we can set up a talk it will probably be the best Degrafa talk ever. Or, if there’s a user group who’d like to help us get set up, that would be great. Enjoy the slides.

Interested in a Degrafa Connect Session?

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

Last week I spoke at the Rocky Mountain Adobe Users Group about Degrafa and someone asked if I would go back and do a full session about the topic. They also asked how I would feel about making it a Connect session for anyone else interested could participate remotely. I thought would be great idea.

There are so many thinks that you can do with Degrafa and it’s evolving every week. Having a Connect Session would enable us to expose a lot of these features to a wider audience as long as there is a demand. So, I’m asking, is there a lot of interest in this? What areas do you have the most trouble/questions with? Any specific topics you’d like to see covered? I could also record the session and post it after the fact.

Degrafa Slides from LA AIR

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Here’s the slide deck from the Degrafa presentation that was given at the LA AIR User Group. Topics covered were basics of Degrafa, how Degrafa may fit into a development work flow, and some new, unreleased additions to the framework. It was a great crowd and people were excited to see some of the advancements Degrafa is making. By 360|Flex Atlanta there should be a lot more to share.
